When the blocks in the arteries of the heart are severe a portion of the
heart muscle is severely affected.
People with chest pain should therefore see a doctor soon. If the pain or
discomfort last more than a few minutes or goes away and comes back
soon, especially with symptoms like shortness of breath, palpitation,
sweating, nausea or giddiness, please call for help or get to a hospital
right away.
Because early treatment could prevent a major event and save life.
Once you are in the ETU or ICU you will be taken care of by an expert
team of Doctors and Nurses.
You will be seen by a Cardiologist who will decide on further
Management.
An Angiogram may be done and a decision taken about angioplasty or
bypass surgery. A life saving machine called the IABP (Intra Aortic
Balloon Pump may be used if your blood pressure is low or if it is a
major heart attack).
